GUWAHATI: The 97th birthday of Sri Satya Sai Baba was celebrated with a special event in the premises of the Sathya Sai Sadhana Nilayam. It is located near the Jorpukhuri in Guwahati on November 8.
A musical evening was arranged in the Sathya Sai Sadhana Nilayam premises to mark the special day. The Commissioner of GMC, Megha Nidhi Dahal was present in the event as the Guest of Honour. He is also a devotee of Sri Sathya Sai Baba as well a alumnus of Bal Vikas. He mentioned her long association with the organization while speaking on the occasion. He also mentioned how the education from Bal Vikas helped him to reach the position she is in today. All Assam Students' Union advisor Dr Sammujjal Bhattacharya was also present with Bipul Rabha, the vice president of the same organization.
The event started with the lighting of a lamp or Diya at the Lotus Feet of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The zonal president of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, Assam and NE region Satyan Sarma lit the lamp with state president Dr Gokul Das. Prof Mukta Biswas, the state spiritual coordinator delivered the welcome address of the event. The students and bhakts of the Bal Vikas then performed a Veda Stuti. Since it was the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Ji on that day, Sushil Sengupta and Putul Das performed bhajans.
Pranati Khaund and her daughter Sanjeeta Khaund were also felicitated by Mahila Bhaktas during the celebration. They were presented with traditional phulam gamuchas, eri shawls, Sri Sai Baba's framed photographs and Kirpans. Pranati Khaund was also given a citation as a token of the special felicitation program. The mother-daughter duo also performed a beautiful bhajan recitation during the celebration.
The event came to a conclusion after the vote of thanks by Dr Aditi Das, State Joint Education Coordinator followed by a Mangala Arati by the Zonal president.
